Avocado oil for hair: what it is, what it does, how we blend it
Avocado oil is the soft, rich active in three of our blends: a green, oleic-rich fruit oil with real cushion that dry and coarse lengths take to.

What it is
Pressed from the flesh of the fruit rather than the seed, avocado oil is about 60 to 70% oleic and 15% palmitic acid, with chlorophyll that makes the unrefined grade deep green. It is stable, with a mild, slightly grassy scent.
How it feels on hair
Weight 4 of 4, rich. It feels full and smooth in the hand, spreads with a little drag and leaves a soft, lasting coat that reads as moisture on thick hair and as too much on fine hair.
Who reaches for it
Dry, coarse, wavy and coily hair; coloured lengths that feel rough; people who oil before washing. Sunday Ritual and Soft Focus carry it at 10%, Wash Day at 6.3%.
Where it sits in our blends
Sunday Ritual carries avocado at 10% (with Argan 78.5%, Baobab 10%, Atlas Cedarwood 1%). Soft Focus carries avocado at 10% (with Sweet Almond 79%, Baobab 10%, Lavender 0.5%). Wash Day carries avocado at 6.3% (with Olive 52.3%, Virgin Coconut 26.2%, Jamaican Black Castor 8.4%, and more). The blends with a product page can be bought as they are; every one of them can be opened in the builder and changed oil by oil.
How to compose with it
The builder allows avocado up to 10% of a hair blend. Put it in front of baobab for a richer length oil, or behind Jamaican black castor in a pre-wash blend. Over argan it is Sunday Ritual; over sweet almond it is Soft Focus.
